National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID)

The National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID) and the Centre for Healthcare Innovation at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) are part of a master plan to have a “health city” situated in Novena and will be opened in stages from 2018. NCID aims to improve Singapore’s ability to respond to infectious diseases outbreaks.

The Engineered Smoke Control System is designed, supplied and installed by iDAS Technology. It consist of a Mechanical Smoke Extraction System and a Natural Smoke Ventilation System.

The Mechanical Smoke Extraction System at Basemet 1 includes ASB automatic smoke curtains, smoke extraction ducts, smoke extraction fans and Brakel Inova fresh air ventilators. This system provides means of escape for the patients and staff in the event of a fire.

Natural Smoke Ventilation System at the Auditorium consists of 12 numbers of acoustic smoke ventilator, Brakel Ventria. This highly acoustic smoke ventilator has a Sound Transmission Class (STC) 45, and this was achieved after many research and development with the manufacturer.

DAS also installed weatherproof performance louvre system at the lift and escalator lobbies in this project. Single bank PL1/DT louvre and louvre doors were used which provided good ventilation inside the building, whilst protect from it from rain and added aesthetic value to the exterior.
